MY BALLPOINT PEN SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKINGUpdated 16 days ago
BASTION BALLPOINT PEN ANATOMY
Likely causes why your Bastion Bolt-Action pen suddenly stops working:
1) Cone opening is damaged not allowing the cartridge to come through at all or jamming the ink cartridge ballpoint in the opening.
Review the rim of the cone where the ballpoint comes through the bottom hole (opposite the top threaded section). This is the thinnest area of the pen and is damaged by hard-surface contact. Part of the rim will appear flattened, which covers a portion of the opening. We carry replacement cones for our core line pen products in our online store. We do not offer replacement cones for limited edition or discontinued items. If your pen is limited edition or discontinued, you can attempt to file the flattened portion of the cone rim or replace with one of our core line pen cones understanding that your pen will lack color/pattern match.

2) Ink cartridge is stuck at the top of the barrel.
Unscrew the cone from the barrel so you can access the Bastion ink cartridge. Gently move the cartridge around in the barrel making sure it is not jammed.
If you're using an off-brand ink cartridge that does not fit, the top cartridge cap may break off inside the bolt shaft causing a deployment malfunction and leaking ink throughout the bolt channel and pen barrel.
If you cannot remove the jammed cap, then the pen is rendered unusable.
3) Ink cartridge sticks in cone, caused by the wax protector on ink cartridge ballpoint.
Unscrew the cone from the barrel to access the Bastion ink cartridge. Right-handed: Grasp cone with thumb and index finger and turn counter-clockwise while holding barrel still with left hand.
Remove the ink cartridge being careful not to lose the spring installed at ballpoint tip.
Take care to remove wax protection completely from ballpoint. If you see residual wax on ballpoint, use a small amount of isopropyl alcohol on a clean, soft microfiber cloth to gently remove remaining wax. Use of a cotton ball or absorbent paper product may leave small fibers stuck to ballpoint disrupting the flow.
Re-install ink cartridge into pen barrel.
